One of the very very interesting feature of the patch that in my opinion has been largely underestimated is the fact that now there is no limit in the size of the maps that online players can share...

That means that it is now possible to create huge nordic maps and that there is no need for everyone to download it before joining...

So what?

The point is that you can also now add safely others boats classes as traffic, without running the risk of exceeding the size limit...

So why not create our own blocks, as a VSK-addon, with for instance icebergs, new island, or even a new coast? That would consist in creating a custom boat with a very basic xml (not moving at all for instance for an island or a lighthouse). Or just following waves for a custom harbour mark for instance. We can even light them on if we like now at night.

People will have to install the add-on, that will consist in installing boats like custblk001, custblk002, etc... and then the map designer will record path or put them wherever he wants on the map. Whoever has installed the add-on could join such a race.

Maybe we can even go as far as designing completely new sailing areas... possibilies are almost infinite...

With the help of VSK-AUS, I have prepared some custom lighthouses, just as a proof-of-concept

Here is Bradley's head in reality:

and here it is in VSK:

and now with the first custom block in VSK history;)

Same thing for Robertson Point:

Possibilities are huge:

Of course if Nadeo would decide to give us an official SceneImporter that would be even better and would open a completely new era in VSK...

That's got to be my nomination for post of the year.

Well done Phille, and everyone involved.

What a great concept Philippe and it sounds like a set of fantastic ideas. What a phenomenal amount of work you put into your projects; I am convinced there must really be 6 of you!

Yes this is a very interesting progression that may be possible.

It would be fantastic to be able to both update existing maps & have the possibility of creation of new maps / environments.

The questions that may also need to be answered are such things as Wind variations / disturbances and water currents around these items / maps.

If Nadeo would be nice enough Clin d'oeil
